- Why does Vortex see Composite Pipes as commercial alternatives to traditional steel and cement solutions?
-
Vortex realises that infrastructure operators and plant owners need to consider whole of life cost and time and disruption costs when considering replacing, steel, reinforced concrete or special alloy pipes. In many cases composite pipes can provide a superior solution at whole of life costs considerably lower than traditional pipe materials. At the end of the day steel pipes and steel reinforced concrete pipes corrode.
- Where do Composite pipes best perform?
-
Composite pipes provide many advantages in particular cost and ease of transport, ability to handle chemically aggressive materials and provide specialised shape options just to name a few. The question should be, will composite pipes provide a superior solution for your application?
- Are all composite pipes much alike?
-
A composite is simply a combination of materials to get an end property. Fibre reinforced composites tend to be the best known composites. Of these composites pipes can be constructed of fibre reinforced glass, carbon, polypropylene, aramids such as Kevlar and bound together with epoxy, vinyl esters polyesters. Each of these materials can provide custom solutions.
